Rote Sonne / Red Sun (Rudolf Thome, 1968)
« on: 05 May 2011 - 10:11 »

Found this DVD last week in an Oxfam - http://www.amazon.de/Rote-Sonne-Deutscher-Uschi-Obermaier/dp/B002LEZ2LA/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1304589906&sr=1-1
Watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Its about a group of women (one played by UBER-Groupie Uschi Obermaier) who kill their boyfriends after a few dates when they are bored with them. Its kind of got a funky Godard vibe to it with gorgeous females, and lovely colourful camerawork.
Anyone else seen this? I checked t'internet and its apparently some kind of German classic - the DVD company has put it out in a series with some classics like Kings of the Road and Fitzcarraldo.

Sounds good! Was it the German DVD you linked to that you got in Oxfam? Any English on it?

Yeah, it was that edition - part of a series released by Kinowelt. No English subs, but managed to rip some off the internet, and master a new copy.
Makes me think what other German goodies are lurking in the local Oxfam.

I live in an area with a large Korean population and keep hoping for some nice Korean discs to appear in one of the charity shops, alas so far all I've spotted was some romantic drama.
