My guess is that, with it being Severin, the hardcore version will have to be purchased separately from the regular release (ala Emanuelle Around the World, Beast in Space).

I wonder about that.  It seems like companies like Severin have to depend less on brick-and-mortar operations for sales than they do online (I doubt THE SINFUL DWARF will end up a Best Buy exclusive - then we'd never be able to find it).

Anyone know if Severin's will be a new master?  Xploited has the 2 disc AWE set for $17.95 but the first disc has burned in Danish subs.

My guess is that they will create a new master by editing the hardcore scenes into their newly created master.

I need to get my dirty hands on this flick asap...I've not decided yet if the dutch DVD is sufficient for my dwarfish sleaze needs or if I should pick up the danish 2 dvd-set with the hardcore inserts... :-\

My guess is that they will create a new master by editing the hardcore scenes into their newly created master.

But they made the new master FROM the uncut Danish cinema print which has the Danish burnt in subtitles. There is NO other uncut version. There is no uncut print without subtitles.

And let me just stress that what several people call "inserts" are NOT inserts. These scenes were original scenes made for the film like the rest of the scenes. They were CUT OUT when they made the softer international print.

Marc, I notice on several boards now you have advised people to wait for the Severin disk instead of buying the Danish/Swedish disk. Could you once and for all please let us know why everyone should wait for this new upcoming version from Severin?

Someone from AWE told me that the deal AWE struck with Severin is that Severin paid for the new print provided AWE could use it. In other words, the print AWE used for the Scandinavian release is exactly the same as the one Severin will be using. So why is a single disc from Severin better when you can get both versions (international and uncut) by buying the Scandinavian double disk? I'm just curious.

I'm just curious.

So am I! I've been wondering the exact same thing Jack.

Is there any online reviews of the AWE set with screen caps?

Severin have created a new High Definition master from Novak's original negative. They also have a copy of the Danish uncut version. They will issue two versions, and will will have the additional scenes from the Danish master edited into the new HD master.

So that's the explanation! Thanks, Marc. It sounds complicated though; I mean first Severin have a new master made from the Danish cinema print and then they have another hi-def master made from the negatives. Why make a new master from the Cinema print in the first place? Why didn't they just remaster the scenes that weren't in Novak's print. But maybe they weren't aware of the existence of the negatives when they made the first master off the cinema print? Oh well.  :-*  :-*

No, there aren't, mr. Redeyes. But I'll tell you what there are: A bucketful of Danish mainstream reviews that trashes the film, hahaha.

It's amazing how Danish reviewers still to this day find the film to be "ugly" and unpleasant to watch, LOL. Apart from 1 (o-n-e) mainstream review the only really positive ones were on genre sites.
