What We Want On DVD... Now!
« on: 06 Jul 2007 - 11:00 »

There's been some great DVDs of some of our favourite exploitaitioners. I'd go as far as to say that there are scores of these films that I would never have seen, had they not been released on dVD. However, there's still loads of our favourite films that need a decent release with either English subs or dubbing. Here are some that I can think of:

WEEKEND MURDERS
FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET
FIVE DAYS OF MILAN
BANDITS OF MILAN
HIGH CRIME
SHARK HUNTER
JONATHAN OF THE BEARS
DRACULA IN THE PROVINCES
SILENT ACTION
BEATRICE CENCI
VIOLENT ROME
BORASLINO
DEAF SMITH AND JOHNNY EARS
CONFESSIONS OF A POLICE CAPTAIN
INVESTIGATION OF A CITIZEN ABOVE SUSPICION
A QUIET PLACE IN THE COUNTRY

The list could go on and on...

Theres already an excellent Franco Cleef dvd of JONATHAN OF THE BEARS taken from a Russian print. :D

I'd also like to see HIGH CRIME and the bottom 4 of your list on widescreen dvd. :-\

I'm starting getting impatient for a full uncut widescreen dvd of Tessari's LONG LIVE YOUR DEATH. :-[

A few titles I really want to see:

The Fury of Johnny Kid (1967) - Paul Naschy in a Spaghetti Western!

Mario Bava's other two SW titles, and Fulci's Silver Saddle (1978)

Mark of the Devil 2 (1973) with Anton Diffring

And of course, any other SW titles, and anything with Klaus Kinski in are more than welcome!

Yeah I second THE FURY OF JOHNNY KID (and what everyone else has said).  I think Koch were rumored to be releasing it.  Here's hoping.

Two Volonte pictures:

Io Ho Paura/The Bodyguard

This sounds great, with Mario Adorf.

Giordano Bruno(1973)

Very curious to see this as I read a couple of books about the scandalized historical figure about 10 years ago. I'm aware there's an italian release, sadly no english option for this mono-lingual ignoramus.

RICCO THE MEAN MACHINE- Dark Sky was supposed to release this one and suddenly canceled it without giving an explanation.

I'd love to see some more Bruno Mattei's goodies on DVD. I'm not a fan of his erotic exploitation stuff, but i'd love to see his cheese fests such as:

ROBOWAR
ALIEN II
SHOCK COMMANDO
SHOCK COMMANDO 2
COP GAME

SHOCK COMMANDO? You mean STRIKE COMMANDO? The original is a masterpiece although I can't say the same about its bad sequel- even if I never saw that on DVD I wouldn't mind. COP GAME is not great either. I would kill for a ROBOWAR DVD though! :)

ALIEN 2- You mean the Ciro Ippolito film? Or Mattei's SHOCKING DARK which is also known as TERMINATOR 2 in Italy?

That's how tacky these films are, i can never get the titles right! Yeah Stike Commando, never seen either of them. Shocking Dark is the film i was talking about although i've seen it called Alien II, Terminator II, and Alienators. I never knew about the Ciro Ippolito film though!

Trust me on STRIKE COMMANDO and ROBOWAR, both are action masterpieces! :)
SHOCKING is a less intense film although it has its fair amount of fun- it is actually ALIEN 2 and TERMINATOR combined ::)

Alien 2 sulla terra is great stuff and with a wonderful soundtrack. And there's me thinking if Neil saw it for inspiration for The Descent....  :-\
