Hello fellow appreciators of the fantastic.

On 15th-17th June 2012 the National Media Museum will again devote itself to all things macabre and fantastical for a weekend of horror, sci-fi and fantasy cinema like no other at the 11th Fantastic Films Weekend.

Spread across the Museum's Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli cinemas and our unique TV Heaven viewing rooms, Fantastic Films Weekend has a reputation for welcoming diverse guests like The Wicker Man's Robin Hardy, Flash Gordon director Mike Hodges, An American Werewolf In London's Jenny Agutter, and creator of the outrageous Birdemic, James Nguyen. Every year retro classics rub shoulders with contemporary cult previews and hits, and the Museum becomes a hub for horror and fantasy fans from across Europe. Lest we forget, Fantastic Films Weekend is programmed by fans of the genre for fans of the genre.

This year we have set our sights on some of the biggest names in horror and sci-fi. Watch this space for all the latest news about guests, previews, retro classics and fantastic events. And join us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/FantasticFilmsWeekend to get involved: this year we'll be offering some of the programming over to you...

And remember the next scream you hear could be your own...

The Fantastic Films Weekend is no more...

Quote
We have taken the difficult decision to stop Fantastic Films Weekend. The three-day event, which started in 2002 and featured horror, science-fiction and fantasy films, will no longer be part of the Museum's programme.

Planning and Special Projects Executive, Dean Loughran said:

"Fantastic Films Weekend is not continuing at the National Media Museum, but we are committed to delivering a film programme that will appeal as widely as possible. It was recognised prior to the current, ongoing spending review that the Museum must focus its resources on events that will reconnect with bigger audiences
