Una jena in cassaforte (Cesare Canevari, 1968)
« on: 22 Apr 2012 - 10:15 »

Anyone seen this one from Canevari?

There's a DVD from CineKult available which states 'versione integrale', anyone know what the quality is like?

I noticed Gialloboy has/had an Italian VHS release...

Is this the only release before the DVD?

The Cinekult DVD looks absolutely stunning - it's completely remastered.

The extras are also quite impressive, with a long interview with the director and a few other people involved in the film:

Here are some screen shots from the DVD

The only downside?

Zero English options.

It is available on CG but I'm not going to get personally involved in re-timing/subbing the extras for a year or two at least - I don't really think it's fair on Cinekult to have these posted online so soon after release. But that's just my personal opinion - also the fact they aren't English friendly in the first place means anyone who doesn't understand Italian is going to bother buying them anyway... There's no real harm done.

Along with CameraObscura and FilmArt, Cinekult really is the label of choice at the moment, proving there IS a market for new product, contrary to what other people might say.

Watched this not long ago and it was... not the giallo type I really like, I'd say. It was somewhat like watching a comedy and a thriller at a time and all mixed up. I think the script was not so bad, but the director... Maybe he didn't do a good job, or maybe he didn't choose the right cast, or maybe he just didn't focus the movie in the right way.
