The Kickstarter for ARGOMAN is up ...

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/doradofilms/argoman-the-fantastic-superman-1967-on-blu-ray-and
Backed it!

I hope the campaign is successful. I'm not so sure about selling advertisements for the disc though. When I purchase a disc with my money, the last thing I want is to watch advertisements. I know everytime I go to the cinema nowadays I have to sit through 10-15 minutes of publicity, but it makes no sense for home video formats.

$28,000 in 30 days? I don't think they stand much of a chance, especially in that time frame. I really can't see anything paying $2000 to advertise which they'll really need. Hope I'm proved wrong though.

3 days in to the program and they're already up to $338. That's roughly $100 a day so if it carries on at this rate they should easily hit the $2,800 target in the 28 day time period.

They're looking for $28,000 not $2,800. Quite what they need that much for I don't know.

The sleeves are going to have real gold leaf lettering for the title.

:-*  I saw the correct figure but my brain couldn't accept it as a realistic target and just wouldn't let my hands type it out.

I think it's the "empty pub" syndrome...when you go out on a pub crawl and find one that is dead, well you pass it by. A vicious circle. In this case folks will think "no way will they reach that", and not bother pledging, i.e. me for example, plus the title is a bit of a special one, so not many folks pledge. Should have went for some Merli and at a lower target!

I agree, however since they seem to be hell bend on getting this release out before they do a Eurocrime box I pledged trying to help out. I am afraid that if this will fail, and lets be honest it will, they will withdraw and might wait for quite a long time before they release the eurocrime box.

And since I cannot find a copy of Violent Rome/Violent Naples on DVD/BR with english sub titles I have my hope pinned on Dorado...(for the observant reader , there is a hint hided in the previous sentence)

Not at all. A real shame but no surprise considering their approach.  We know for a fact that a Eurocrime boxset would have got more than 15 pledges.

The amount being asked for didn't help. Or the rewards on offer. The HG Lewis Kickstarter was much more realistic in what was wanted and offered.
