The Sweeney (1975-78)

Thought there would have been a thread for this already.

The Blu Ray of Series One arrived today and I watched the first four episodes. To say I've never seen it look so good is an understatement. It looks absolutely fantastic and as far as I'm concerned it's a must if you like this show. Well worth upgrading from the DVD.

There's a thread for the first film http://www.lovelockandload.net/forum/index.php?topic=1577.0 which kind of drifts into discussion of the series.

I'll pick up the BD at some point but I'll wait for the price to drop a bit - I paid full price for the DVDs when they first came out so I'm going to hang on this time.

Same here, I'm sure there will be the inevitable box set too. Good to hear that the picture quality is up to scratch. It looks shit on ITV 4HD.

I really fancy those Samsung 'Smart TV' LED jobs. Player wise this Toshiba looks like a winner...

That certainly looks like it'll do the job.

The Toshiba player is a bargain for its multi-region capabilities. Can get it for around £50 now. I have a Samsung Smart TV and it is great, should go for a plasma instead of LED though, much more natural picture quality.

Is the toschiba multi region straight from the box or does it need modifying

Needs a simple firmware update. If I remember correctly you put the Australian firmware on the player and it gives the player multiregion capabilities. A quick Google search will offer more detail.

Personally I'd go for a modded player as they can be easily updated without losing multiregion capability.

I wonder how these sold? Still no sign of the second series.

Adore this show. Picked up the DVD box set a while back after X-Mas. "Get your trousers on, you're nicked!"

A bit late to reply but you'll be pleased to know season 2 is coming, I believe the professionals restoration is what delayed the second set

I didn't like The Professionals before. I like it less now.
