The Take (David Drury, 2009)
« on: 29 Oct 2012 - 17:44 »

Just finished watching this four part mini-series.

What can I say, good powerful stuff, had me hooked from the start. Freddie (Tom Hardy) gets out of prison in 1984 after doing a stretch for armed robbery and wants to get straight back into his criminal activities. Whilst inside he was taken under the wing of Ozzy (played menacingly by Brian Cox) who controls part of the criminal underworld on the outside behind bars.

Hardy gave an absolutely fantastic performance, totally believable, and what a horrible vile violent character. There was no limit to what he is capable of.

This was a whole lot better than I thought it was going to be, I was very impressed, highly recommended. Each of the four episodes runs just over three quarters of an hour.

Based on the book by Martina Cole, never saw this or last year's THE RUNAWAY, either.
