I've been watching the recent excellent version with Jeremy Irons and my mum tells me there was a version in the late 70's (turned out to be '81) with Adolfo Celi in the main role.





I wouldn't mind checking this out at some point, anybody seen it?

I watched that when it was on TV. Would have only been 13 but my parents didn't care. Don't remember much about it but it was a BBC production I think and caused a lot of controversy, especially because of the nudity, which I what I remember most.

I suppose I was probably a bit too young to fully get to grips with the drama then. I'm surprised there isn't a UK release as it was quite a major production at the time.
