Unearthly Stranger (John Krish, 1963)
« on: 05 Jan 2013 - 08:01 »

Quite enjoyed this bit of early Brit sci-fi, the poor quality copy and the obvious low budget did give this a made for TV feel but it was entirely watchable and had some pretty cool moments, especially the bit with the kids in the school yard.

Had never even heard of this one until reading about it in OFFBEAT (be wary of spoilers in the review contained therein!)

I thought you'd gone back on the Offbeat trail for a second. Do you reckon I'll like this one, Jonny?

Yeah, it's pretty decent and will more than likely be a completely different experience in HD. I'll be picking it up for sure.

Watched the BD tonight. Never seen it before and enjoyed it. The schoolyard scene was a highlight and it ended well too. A bit like a "Village of the Damned with adults" in those two bits. It was probably better on a low budget as they didn't try to go for some dodgy sfx or makeup that would have probably looked awful now. Decent transfer too.
