The Wicker Man (Robin Hardy, 1973)
« on: 08 Apr 2013 - 19:51 »

Couldn't find an existing thread for this film (mods, please merge if there is one)

Piggy backing the upcoming blu-ray thread I thought it would be worth highlighting this in a film specific thread....

Zavvi Exclusive Limited to 4000 copies. Steelbook Blu-ray, no word on which cut of the film but it's pre-ordering now for just £14.99 with free shipping for UK orders (Paypal accepted to boot)

As posted on the Wicker Man/Studio Canal Facebook page via a sketchy/vague video from Robin Hardy, this version will be the first time it has been seen on Blu-ray or shown theatrically...

Hmmm. It's now officially called 'The Final Cut'

Will it just be the extended cut but in better quality? Or will it have new footage? The fact they don't mention about this cut being on DVD before makes me dubious, Im still looking forward to seeing it in HD though.

They way the video cuts mid sentence to manipulate what's being said reminds me of something Chris Morris might have put together. Albeit Morris would have done it less slap dash.

I'm Whigfield and I think Naomi Campbell has a gravel fanny disorder.

I'm Robin Hardy and you've never seen this version of my film before. On Blu-ray.

So it's going to be the middle version it seems. the one on moviedrome without the mainland opening.

That was a seriously ambiguous video!

The Blu will have 3 cuts of the film on it btw... UK theatrical, Director's Cut and The Final Cut.

Can't say fairer than that!

Just hope Studio Canal doesn't fuck the transfer up like with Don't Look Now and, apparently, their upcoming release of Purple Noon.
