Got that old dutch tape too, watched about half of it recently, found it to be an extremely boring film. One of those films where the video sleeve looks much better then the actual movie.
The rat scenes sure are  over the top. Will watch the rest later to see that ending and see a bit more of Lorraine De Selle.

Yes, the artwork on the video sleeve is pretty good. There were some amusing trailers at the end too, including one for the rare drug movie THE TUNNEL with Helmut Berger and Corinne Clery - featuring music by The Pretenders. Cool stuff.

To be fair, I do think WILD BEASTS picks up considerably for its fun climax, so it redeems itself somewhat.

Never saw THE TUNNEL but bought the dutch tape to get me a little more of that fine fox Corinne Clery who took me by surprise in Hitch-Hike.

I recommend THE TUNNEL. It's a pretty good period piece. OK, calling it a period piece sounds pretty crazy but I think it captures the era in which it was made pretty good - showing the bleak, tough existance of heroin addicts just before the outbreak of AIDS. Berger and Clery are both good, and it's quite funny to see a very young Karl Zinny from DEMONS and DELIRIUM. Love the Pretenders score too.

I've always wanted to see this, isn't there supposed to be a scene of Clery injecting into her vagina?
The same director,Massimo Pirri, also made the excellent ITALIA ULTIMO ATTO? with Luc Merenda about urban terrorism.

I have THE TUNNEL- have been meaning to watch it... Sounds really good. Have a US tape of TERRORISM as well but its in bad condition, I need a good copy of the film! I have another Pirri film, called KISS OF THE COBRA and starring Danilo Mattei of CANNIBAL FEROX.

Clery does inject into her vagina, yes, but it's a close-up shot so it may be a body-double. I'm not sure. The film is good but bleak and straight-forward. Apparently, Pirri was married to Paola Montenero from A BAY OF BLOOD and Bruno Mattei's nunsploitation films. Montenero is said to have had a drug problem, so I guess she may have served as some sort of inspiration for THE TUNNEL...

I'm not overly familiar with Pirri but I have seen KISS OF THE COBRA, which is a strange hybrid of Indiana Jones-style adventure and a prison film with Andy J. Forest, Danilo Mattei and Milly D'Abbraccio (before she started appearing in hardcore porn). Not exactly great but an OK time-waster. Pirri's L'IMMORALITÀ (1978) is out on DVD in Italy with English subs. I've been meaning to pick it up but haven't gotten around to it yet.

There's a pretty good 7 page interview with Pirri in Nocturno#7 from 1998 where he talks about Montenero and her role in his 1975 film CÁLAMO,there's also a picture of the 2 of them on the set.

That sounds cool! I don't suppose it says anything about where Montenero ended up? I've seen her in DOLCE GOLA, a really ugly porno film where she performs in several hardcore scenes, but she seems to have vanished afterwards. And Pirri seems to have died quite young...

No it just says something about her ending up in trouble with the law in Italy,Paola Senatore also gets a mention as she also starred in the same film.
He mostly talks about his films like ITALIA ULTIMO ATTO? and the social climate around the time it was made etc, sadly he died 3 or 4 years after that interview was published.

YES!!
She looked and acted HOT in Fernando di Leo's Vacanze per un massacro(Madness) :D

YES, indeed.  I'm a big fan of hers for sure.  She's pretty boring in this film though - underused.

Wild Beasts is a pretty fun movie.  I watched a Dutch (?) video of it recently that had english audio/burned in subs.  The entire movie is filmed at night which adds a major layer of cheapness to it, but there are some amazing scenes, especially the Cheetah vs. car sequence (I think there's a clip of it on youtube).  A lot of the humor comes from the English dubbing which sounds hilariously bad.  The soundtrack is great as well - the recurring drum machine music when an animal is about to attack.
I'm hoping it will surface on legit DVD someday so I can re-appraise it.

Quote
As for Lorraine De Selle, she is dubbed with the same voice she had in both FEROX and HOUSE but the similarities end there, as she is far more plain-looking this time around and pretty under-used too. I was more happy to see Ugo Bologna from ZOMBIE and NIGHTMARE CITY, who is pretty fun here in a more sizeable role than usual for him as the police inspector. I ought to re-watch this some day and see how it holds up. I might find it more agreeable this time around.

It is strange how she looks vastly different in different roles.  I remember thinking she looked rather plain in CANNIBAL FEROX and HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK but incredibly hot as the warden in that Mattei/Gemser prison movie.
