Of course. I pre-ordered the BD of Rolling Thunder about a year before it was released. I'm fairly confident that Zavvi didn't have a warehouse full of them while they waited for the release date to come round.

Don't want to sound like the pessimistic voice of doom but exactly how long before the release of Tim Lucas 'a Bava book was it that you pre-ordered?

Dunno. A year? Amazon.com are showing the release date for it as Nov 30th. The McFarland site just says Fall/Winter 2013.

The book is scheduled to be sent to the printer next week, so Amazon's Nov 30th sounds pretty realistic :D

amazon page lets you look inside this now.

might mean the kindle version really is purchasable too, for about £15.

Finally got a chance to skim through it this morning... definitely not the definitive book on Italian Eurocrime, if you can read Italian then Antonio Bruschini and Antonio Tentori's 'Città Violente' is still the closest you'll get to a detailed, contextualized, breakdown of the genre. If not, then Roberto Curti's book is probably the next best thing.

Got one of them myself, had it years, obviously never read it but the filmography at the back of the book was the only thing like it at the time.

To do Mr. Curti justice: if you can read Italian, his "Italia Odia" might be the closest you could ever get to the last word on the genre. Actually, I am not sure why I even bother to buy the new book; probably just to show my appreciation... and the pictures look nice, too.

I have to admit that I haven't yet read the Bruschini/Tentori book (though I bought it some time ago).

after initially being quite cheap, this sold out at book depository (only restocked briefly, closer to the amazon £35 price) so i'll be interested to see where it comes in now it's heading out there. i would be interested at £20 or so, i think.

will be waiting, probably for some time, for the price to drop, before I buy it.
