Not quite as terrible as it might seem. Frankie Howerd is surprisingly tolerable in this and managed to raise a chuckle or two out of me, which is saying something as I don't find much of his stuff funny. There's a nice gothic period tone set well by the sets and locations (Oakley Court always looks good) and the cast is pretty decent despite the pretty ropey/well worn story.

I remember this vaguely from TV and not too fondly. Really can't stand Frankie Howerd though so that probably doesn't help.

It's part of that deal Network have done with Studio Canal.

Ham actor Foster Twelvetrees (Frankie Howerd) is invited to perform in a manor house by Stewart Henderson (Ray Milland) but not is all it seems, I enjoyed this a whole lot more than I was expecting to, not hilarious but it had me smiling throughout. Also starring Hugh Burden and Kenneth Griffith (in one scene in blackface!) among others.
