I'll rustle up some subs during the week  :P

Downloading as we speak  ::)

This year is fast becoming one of the best in recent memory for official releases and unearthed rarities!

Shame no Italian track but English subs! I'm all over this release.

If it had Italian, i'd grab it.

Where is the best place for DE releases? Ideally easy to navigate, in English and excepts paypal, bank payment (not bloody transfers!!)  :P

BeyondMedia is awesome but it is such a pain to navigate through and to find interesting blus.

I was so excited by the fact that both films had English subs that I missed that they didn't have an Italian track. No sale for me if that's the case.
Surprising that a german dub exists in the first place considering how long it has taken for this rare film to surface in the first place.

Good news, but I'll wait for reviews. German Blu-Ray can be hit and miss; have seen far too many upscales.

... this release is listed in this weeks beyond media mailing list email.

I've ordered from the, twice. Ive relied on knowing a release is available widely to'preorder, then I just email to arrange - another way in which they're slow, as a reply can take a day or two.

I remember scouring the web for any info on 'Yellow: Le Cugine' and German promo materials did pop up on eBay. It's possible it was a co-production of sorts, although I'm not sure.

I was contacted a while ago about them using my subs for this release but it appears they're doing them themselves - which makes me think (as I pointed out at the time) that the German audio track probably doesn't match the Italian dialogue (or it's certainly quite different in places) It's a shame there's no Italian audio track but I'd guess that's because Ascot don't/never had the rights to the Italian audio track in the first place. It's not uncommon... FilmArt's release of 'Battle of the Godfathers' (a German/Italian co-production) met a similar fate - the Italian version doesn't have English subs because they licensor wanted more money. (although I did provide them with subs they were eventually used for English>German translation only)

Sadly, even if an Italian company gets to release Yellow - they'll still be restricted to Italian audio but no English subs.

Interesting, I didn't know about the German promo materials.

While I understand why the rights holders make stipulations about language and subs, you just have to wonder how they reason with a title like this? I mean, how many copies can a distributor realistically expect to sell of Yellow/Le Cugine?
It a niche title in a niche genre. Like you say, I'm sure we'll get a custom version (which is great), but I'd much rather have an English friendly retail version on my shelf.
