Okay, after one heck of a long delay I was able to finally post out the remaining three reels of 'Tutto Sul Rosso' to our guy collaborating with lab number two.

I expect the reels to arrive some time next week.

Why has it taken so long?

Truth is I've been busy as hell with work and I was down with a savage ear infection for a long while... It's been hectic, to say the least.

I agree, it really is amazing - but at the same time I was really upset with the Italian lab because if I had taken their word for it I would have considered the reels junk - it's depressing to be honest...

How many complete 35mm prints of these films are still around? Most were destroyed either through constant use or physically scrapped by the distributors. Umberto Lenzi told me these films had an average shelf-life of about five years... beyond storing one print in the national archives (by law) they really were considered a perishable commodity.

Like I said, incredibly happy about the prospect of this new transfer - but also upset at the same time. I just hope Le Salamandre is good as well... although we can fall back on 'Giochi Erotici di una Famiglia per Bene' if it isn't - but that's the one I'm really crossing my fingers for. I had a good feeling about 'All on the Red' looking at the telecine, I could see some colour there - but Le Salamandre looks washed out, but I don't know if they just wiped out the colours to make it all one tone (grey/blue) It's a tough call.

Just want to update everyone with the news that there are indeed no new updates!

As before we're waiting for the lab - I want to thank everyone for their patience and, in the meanwhile, I'm going to try and send the 'first attempt' telecines to Dario so at least they can be shared amongst the donators in the meanwhile. I'm also going to try and sort out something extra (subbed film, if you're wondering) to thank everyone for waiting this long... If you have any requests, now's a good time because I'll have three weeks off work over Christmas.

You know, between telecine attempt number one in Italy (aka "operation fuck up") and number two - this entire process has taken just over a year and in this time nobody has ever messaged me to hurry things up, etc - I appreciate it. God knows, it's been a tough enough year as it is with work, etc.

So, nothing new - but the print is in very safe hands and I'm optimistic our patience will eventually be rewarded!

Yeah I echo Aarron. Don't think anyone's in a rush. Look forward to it when it's done.

Over a year later we now have telecine zwei in the can  :P

Any and all praise should be heaped upon Rocco in Germany and the guy at the lab who spent a long time trying to get the very best out of not so good materials. The transfer isn't perfect, the print is quite scratched - and there is one early scene that's clearly missing frames - but these amount to less than a few seconds. All in all I'd say they really have worked a miracle... and then some!

I'll be working with Dario over the coming weeks to get this one out there... almost there!

The 'Tutto Sul Rosso' telecine project is officially airborne!

You can grab it now from CG - If someone wants to create some WeTransfer links for the donators who aren't on CG, I'd really appreciate it.  :P

Massive thanks to everyone who helped out - and most of all to Rocco and our man in the lab in Germany - they went well beyond the call of duty with this one. As I mentioned before the materials weren't easy to work with and they've produced nothing short of a miracle with what they had. It isn't perfect, there are scratches, the colours are still somewhat faded - but when you compare this copy to the Italian telecine (caps were posted earlier in this thread) you can see just what a difference they've made with this new telecine.

As we move forward - I'm now more inclined to send up 'Giochi Erotici di una Famiglia Per Bene' - we still don't have a decent Italian audio track and I'm reasonably sure we've got better materials to work with. In contrast, I suspect 'Le Salamandre' is going to be difficult to work with (like Tutto Sul Rosso) I also think most people would rather sit through a 70's giallo. So, that should be project number zwei.

Thanks again everyone and I hope you enjoy Tutto Sul Rosso - it's a fun caper film with a dark film noir ending to cap it all off. The subs for this new telecine have been revised here and there to make things flow a little easier.

Right, next up I gotta sub some trailers for Paul before I fall asleep! (it's been a long day!)

Downloading right now. Thanks for all your hard work on this one!
I imagine you've spent quite a few hours making the transfer happen. Glad to see it finally worked out and I really looking forward to checking it out.

btw, I'm the one to blame for the subbing of the trailers, not Paul :)

As usual, amazing work from our man DjangoLi!

And as usual for me I rarely go on CG and have had my account closed due to lack of activity. Any chance of a wetransfer?  :P
