Vault of Horror (Roy Ward Baker, 1973)
« on: 29 Jul 2014 - 16:08 »

TALES FROM THE CRYPT / VAULT OF HORROR out in October.

I wonder if Vault will be uncut this time? Not holding my breathe.

The word on the street is that Vault will be uncut on this upcoming blu-ray.

Just come back on here to say.

Available uncut for the first time on home video! Five unsuspecting hotel guests step into an elevator, which leads them into an underground vault. Trapped with no way out, each guest shares a gruesome tale of an encounter with death. But as the stories unfold, the men begin to suspect that their presence in the vault is no coincidence, and that the only way out…is death. Starring Tom Baker (Doctor Who), Denholm Elliott (Raiders Of The Lost Ark), Curd Jurgens (The Mephisto Waltz) and Michael Craig (Mysterious Island), this ferociously entertaining film is a worthy sequel to Tales From The Crypt!

Shout has said the VAULT element they have is the same cut one used on the R1 DVD.
They are looking for another 'fix' & likely insert bits in from a 2nd source

Insertions are fine by me, I think they should do that at the very least considering they said "Available uncut for the first time on home video!"

I'm cool with inserts too, as long as it's uncut I can deal with that.

I prefer the quality to dip for inserts than leaving them out.

That's weird. I just assumed that's what they were doing all along anyway. Thought they already had a source sorted by their wording. Inserts for me too anyway. If they want to satisfy the 100% HD top quality lot then branch it.

Got mine last week. First time I had seen Vault and absolutely loved it, found it better than Tales from the Crypt.

Which version of Vault did you watch? There's three on there, I'm thinking uncut widescreen but I'm tempted by uncut full frame... Decisions, decisions...

I watched the one that was on the same disc as Tales from the Crypt. Go widescreen, Jonny.

Watched this last night via the widescreen uncut version and didn't notice any inserts, image quality seemed uniform all round with no shifts during the previously cut material. Really nice presentation overall, not mint but still pretty decent.

My thoughts exactly. Did not notice any inserts either. Certainly one of the best releases of the year for me.
