Interesting Kickstarter which I've backed straight away...

About this project

DID YOU KNOW THAT . . . The classic Hammer films from Warner Bros are now finally starting to appear on Blu-ray. However, they have never received an in-depth exploration in any special feature or documentary. Now, the fascinating story can finally be told in this unprecedented 90-minute documentary feature, HAMMER HORROR: THE WARNER BROS YEARS, written and directed by Marcus Hearn, Hammer Films’ official historian. The documentary will feature exclusive interviews with many of the key players from that period, as well as authors and film historians like Jonathan Rigby and Constantine Nasr. Also included will be rare production stills, film footage, Hammer’s original shooting locations, and access to previously unseen archive documents. The documentary will be available via streaming and in a limited blu-ray release, exclusive to this fundraiser.

Extra Features

In addition to the main feature, the blu-ray will also contain extended interviews with some of the key participants. Other extras will be announced as they become confirmed.

Depends what I get paid this month. Self employment is a bit erratic but I think I should have some spare sheckles.

Yeah I did. Went for the $49 all in one so you get the Blu Ray. pretty pointless going for the two options under that I'd say.

They've been keeping us well informed, glad Sir Christopher Frayling is on board, one of the nicest down to earth people you could ever meet:

Actor John Carson has been confirmed as an interviewee!

John Carson has a long history with Hammer Horror. He is one of the co-stars of Taste the Blood of Dracula. He also appeared in the Plague of the Zombies and Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter.

NEW EXTRA FEATURE CONFIRMED FOR THE BD: Hammer Chords: Hammer Horror’s Shocking Scores

Hammer composer, James Bernard
Diabolique Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Max Weinstein, and Managing Editor, Joe Yanick, will write, direct, and produce Hammer Chords: Hammer Horror’s Shocking Scores, a 10-20 minute featurette that will explore the soundtracks/scores of the films covered in Hammer Horror: The Warner Bros Years. Points of interest will include: how the film’s scores stood out from other films of the time of their release; special focus on Hammer mainstay composer, James Bernard; in-depth breakdowns of specific selections from each film’s soundtracks; and more.
Interviews with key figures (composers, historians, scholars, critics, filmmakers, etc.) may be included depending on script, availability of prospective interview subjects, etc.

Renowned Film Historian, Sir Christopher Frayling, Joins the Production Team!

Sir Christopher Frayling has had a wide output as a writer and critic on subjects ranging from vampires to westerns. He has written and presented television series such as The Art of Persuasion on advertising and Strange Landscape on the Middle Ages. He has conducted a series of radio and television interviews with figures from the world of film, including Woody Allen, Deborah Kerr, Ken Adam, Francis Ford Coppola and Clint Eastwood. He has written and presented several television series, including The Face of Tutankhamun and Nightmare: Birth of Horror.

Frayling read history at Churchill College, Cambridge and gained a PhD in the study of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. He was appointed a Fellow of the college in 2009. He taught history at the University of Bath and was awarded an Honorary Degree (Doctor of Arts) from that University in 2003. In 1979 Frayling was appointed Professor of Cultural History at London's post-graduate art and design school, the Royal College of Art. Frayling was Rector in charge of the Royal College of Art from 1996 to 2009.
He studied spaghetti westerns and specifically director Sergio Leone. He has written a very popular biography of Leone, Something To Do With Death (2000); helped run the Los Angeles-based Gene Autry Museum's exhibit on Leone in 2005; and appeared in numerous documentaries about Leone and his films, particularly the DVD documentaries of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). He also provided audio commentaries for the special edition DVD releases of A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, Once Upon a Time in the West and The Colossus of Rhodes.

In 2003 Frayling was awarded the Sir Misha Black award and was added to the College of Medallists.
He was the Chairman of Arts Council England from 2005 until January 2009. He also served as Chairman of the Design Council, Chairman of the Royal Mint Advisory Committee, and a Trustee of the Victoria and Albert Museum. He was a governor of the British Film Institute in the 1980s. In April 2014 he was appointed Chancellor of the Arts University Bournemouth.
In 2001, Frayling was awarded a knighthood for "Services to Art and Design Education" and chose as his motto "PERGE SCELUS MIHI DIEM PERFICIAS", which can be translated as "Proceed, varlet, and let the day be rendered perfect for my benefit". That is, 'Go ahead, punk, make my day'.

HAMMER BEAUTY, CAROLINE MUNRO JOINS THE PRODUCTION!

Caroline Munro has been confirmed to take part in HAMMER HORROR: THE WARNER BROS YEARS!
Hammer Films CEO, Sir James Carreras, spotted Munro on a Lamb's Navy Rum poster/billboard. She was immediately signed to a one-year contract. Her first film for Hammer proved to be something of a turning point in her career. It was during the making of Dracula AD 1972 that she decided from this film onward she was a full-fledged actress.
Munro acted in Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter in 1974. Directed by Brian Clemens, she plays the barefoot gypsy girl Carla. In Paramount Pictures DVD commentary, Clemens explains that he envisioned the role as a fiery, Raquel Welch type, red-head. Hammer pushed for Munro, and the script was adapted accordingly.
Munro has the distinction of being the only actor ever signed to a long-term contract by Hammer Films. She would later turn down the lead female roles in Hammer's Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell, and the unmade Vampirella because they required nudity.

They just hit their stretch goal and will including a feature on un filmed Hammer from the Warner era.  Really glad there was enough support to get this over the top and beyond.

There's rumblings on Facebook alluding to the creators of this kickstarter being a bit dodgy and warning we might not see the end product. Anyone heard anything similar?

Still waiting on this and another update today, citing legal clearances as the main delay.

All else is finished.  Some folks were wondering on another forum if this is going to end up a bust.  I was warned not to participate but went ahead and donated.

We'll see, it is starting to get s bit shady as the delays were filming, editing, now this legal issue ops up.
