Out of curiosity, but does anyone else watch the Italian TV series
Il commissario Montalbano (Inspector Montalbano, as it's know in English)?
For those unfamiliar with the series, it started back in the late 90's, and its feature length episodes are based on a series of books by Italian writer Andrea Camilleri.
It's a very accessible show, that combines police work/mystery plots, some humour, a very likeable cast, and in true Italian fashion, some lovely locations and even lovelier women.

Fans of Italian genre cinema may occasionally find some elements that may seem straight out of a giallo, although again, the series is very accessible, so it doesn't feature very graphic violence (but it does feature the occasional nudity).
Despite that, it's a very enjoyable show. Well shot, lovely locations, good acting, and the length of the episodes (some reaching almost 2 hours) allows for the stories to develop in a leisurely pace that I find very "comforting".
