You certainly are right, Stephen – my sig features a still from Dallamano’s film. I love DAUGHTERS and think it has an edge over SOLANGE, personally speaking. I like the way in which it comes across as a hybrid of cop flick and giallo.

Anything with Mario Adorf is awesome!

Call me crazy, but I like Four Flies on Grey Velvet, I know it's quirky but I enjoy it for that.  The flamboyant detective, Bud Spencer, the coffin expo, the scimitar flashbacks, etc.

I think The Bird with the Crystal Plumage is simply a classic and perhaps somewhat genre-defining, while Deep Red is the be-all and end-all of gialli, they should have stopped making them after it came out.

Other top gialli:

Lizard in a Woman's Skin
Blood and Black Lace This one is considered one of the first of the genre, I love that the killer bears a striking resemblance to Charlston Comics character The Question, who Alan Moore also used as a basis for his character Rorschach in Watchmen.  Interestingly The Question first appeared in 1967, so maybe the killer's outfit in this movie was an inspiration for the comic character..
Knife of Ice left a good impression on me, a subdued film, and surprisingly lacking in gore for an Umberto Lenzi flick, this one is boiling with atmosphere and had some twists that I didn't anticipate.
Short Night of Glass Dolls left an impression on me for breaking from the mold of the genre.

I'm sure there are others I can't think of at the moment.. to me, even some of the worst Gialli are enjoyable to watch.  I've only seen a few that have been utterly unbearable, I think Death Carries a Cane is one that comes to mind..

Tenebrae is my fave giallo. In the opening scenes, Anthony Franciosa is shown heading toward the airport on his bike. The steel girders of the bridge keep blocking and fragmenting his image. Does anybody think Argento deliberately filmed it this way to show Peter Neals schizo state of mind?

That Robbie Coltrane flick--THE POPE MUST DIE--was released in the States as THE POPE MUST DIET, as newspapers refused to advertise something that sound so blasphemous.  :-\
