Did anyone see the theatre production of this film featuring Jim Broadbent as Lionheart that was on at the National Theatre a couple of years ago? I'd have loved to have seen that.

I love this film that much I went and bought it twice! Well no actually the second time was because it was doubled with Madhouse.

I just bought it for the second time via the MGM Double feature, a bargain at only a couple of quid a film. There's been some hate as regards 'Madhouse' but I really like it!

Afterall you get to see the Cush and Vinnie Price have a fight!

I definitely prefer Lionheart above Phibes.

I watched this movie for the first time when I was about 14 years old. Later, when I was a student, we had to go through almost any Shakespeare play, and over the years I had been unable to refrain from chuckling any time we came across one of the death scenes alluded to in Theatre of Blood.

Well, our teacher was not ony a renowned Shakespeare scholar, he also had a sense of humor. When we were discussing Henry VI. and arrived at the execution scene of Joan (my favorite death secne), he blatantly ask me why I was having fun.

I told him, and he started laughing too, because he knew the movie and enjoyed it as much as I did.

The soundtrack is great, too. Unfortunately, there is no official release and the promo is very hard to find.

I used to have the MGM VHS and the print used for the tape seemed better than the DVD. This one really needs a special edition release by itself.

I wonder why it's spelt THEATRE in England and THEATER in the States?

I guess "THEATRE" is more formal or classy while the other is seen as more relaxed or casual? Maybe that's just the way it's spelled in the UK? I've wondered that myself from time to time.
