This sci-fi thriller starring Mel Ferrer and featuring Franco Nero as Jesus Christ (!) is being prepared for release by US DVD label Code Red, and they have posted some screens from the anamorphic widescreen transfer on their blog:

This is great news! I've only seen the shortened version, where Sam Peckinpah is only seen in shadow! Really liked that version, no matter how confusing it is! I cannot wait to get my hands on this DVD!

Can't let a thread about 'Stridulum' go without that clip of Micalizzi conducting the music from this film!  ;)

That is great news. I've got the Embassy US tape but this'll do nicely, thank you very much  ::)

Great clip - there's a man who loves his job!  ::)

Been intrigued by this film since I read about it on a now apparently defunct blog, Gli Attore, which was a great read.

Nero looks like Alberto de Mendoza as the mad monk from HORROR EXPRESS but with a blonde wig. I'm still waiting on Code Red to release the hilarious KILL SQUAD.

Just received the UK Warners VHS of 'The Visitor'. Copying it over onto my DVD recorders HD a minute ago and noticed that it's the longer cut of the film featuring Franco Nero at the beginning of the film telling the story to the bald kids! What a surprise! Looks like the shorter version was released in the US and we got a longer European cut.

According to the Code Red blog, they have found a new distributor and they'll probably start releasing again in April 2008, with the bigger titles coming around Halloween 2008....
