i have just aquired this vhs and thought i would share the wonderful artwork with you all!

i believe this to be the uncut version, now does that mean uncut as including hc inserts as i believe also a release of this title does have the hc, i am hoping it is this one:)

I'm not that clued up on Jess Franco but that film's also known as 'The Bloody Judge', Blue Underground put out a DVD of it. It's supposed to be a good film by all accounts.

The Blue Underground release features the "hard" version, whereas the one released by Redemption in the Uk is the uncut "soft" version, I believe.

yeah thats correct johnny, the bloody judge, i have been told this vfp release is the hard version too, fingers crossed!
but i guess with this one the extra hard footage will just be tits and gore.

autopsy is an odd little film!. It has interviews on the streets with 'real' people about life and death and the autopsy footage, though prolonged was i think done so much better with nacho cerda's masterpiece, i think this one really wanted to be a mondo movie.
but again, a rare and good looking vhs on the masterful video for pleasure label!

The dutch video release of The Bloody Judge is the uncut English language version of the film. All the sex scenes are filmed clothed, gore and violence are restrained and the film is padded with tedious war footage. This is the same version Redemption put out on UK dvd. The German version features around 4 minutes of torture and violence not in the English version, nude sex scenes and shorter battle scenes. The films overall running time is considerably shorter making it much pacier. I haven't seen the French version but it is reported to be stronger than the German. The Spanish release is a different, even tamer, edit than the English version.

A scene lasting 5 minutes 25 seconds in which Mary tries to commit suicide and is rescued by Harry. This can be found in the Spanish print (and panned-and-scanned in the Canadian version).

58m 32s

A single 4 second shot of the chained women being led into a house. This is also in the Spanish and Canadian prints.

66m 09s

The scene in which Sally appears before Judge Jeffries in court contains 3 additional shots in the Spanish, Canadian and German prints.

73m 42s

The German print includes a complete 2 minutes 23 seconds scene in which Sally washes and dresses Mary before giving her a dagger. In the Spanish print, this scene has been cut down to 1 minute 27 seconds, eliminating as much nudity as possible (though three unique close ups of the guards have been added to smooth over the cuts). In the French print, only the final 3 shots of this sequence are retained.

The German print includes a complete 2 minutes 26 seconds scene in which Jeffries' hand removes Mary's clothes. The Spanish print cuts this scene down to 1 minute 37 seconds, removing all nudity. The scene does not feature at all in the Canadian / French version.

Also, the German print uses alternate takes of three scenes.

The scene in which Mary and Harry talk in the barn appears in a clothed variant in the Redemption release, and a nude variant in the German release.

The montage of tortures in the Salvation and other releases uses superimpositions to obscure the image. In the German edition, these shots appear without superimpositions.

The scene, in which the guard releases Mary from the dungeon appears in the German version via alternate takes - not for any good reason, though the action is noticeably different, with the guard threatening Mary with a dagger.

The Italian BLOODY JUDGE (Il trono di fuocco) is quite similar to the Spanish version - the only real point of interest was a unique set of beginning and end credits, which play over shots taken from the battle sequence.

Aside from that, this is the only print apart from the German one to include the alternate nude takes for the sex in the barn sequence. The bathing of Maria Rohm is the same censored variant seen in the Spanish print, while the scene in which Jeffries caresses Rohm is more explicit than in the Spanish edition, though less explicit than the German one.

The version with hardcore is retitled 'The Orgy Box'. Let us know if your tape includes the hardcore. Would be interesting.

thanks for the info on bloody judge marc, makes for very interesting reading. Oh well, guess i will just have to console myself with the wonderful artwork!

yep, will let you know if the dutch toybox is the hard version, i think it would definately be stronger than the uk pre cert version which i also have.

The UK pre-cert is the uncut standard release version, same as the US DVD.

There's also a version released as THE ORGY BOX which has hardcore inserts.

this vhs arrived today, luckily on my day off so i have viewed it and it does NOT contain hardcore scenes, lots of full frontal nudity, some near the nuckle so to speak hehe but no hardcore!
cracking film though, wonderfully weird stuff, very trippy seventies type imagery.
