I take it you'll be taking this to that fest in October, Jonny?

Oh yes indeed!  :'(

Disappointed with this one.
It seems that I put too much emphasis on some of the members' opinions about the film.
I was promised a no holds barred action flick and I got a rather talky movie.
The action doesn't pick up until the final half hour with the brilliant scene atop the cable car.

I want to check out the other two Betti films eventually but for the moment the two Tanzi films are far beyond this.

What about that motorcycle chase? If you didn't like this you probably won't like the other two. Although SPECIAL COP IN ACTION is packed with action and has an almost epic feel about it so you'll possibly dig that one.

I'm surprised to hear that mate, this is the film that got me into the crime films in a big way.

Do you mean the sped up motorcycle ride where the baddie has to get to the police station before 1 p.m. to make it seem like he wasn't at the crime scene?

I liked those scenes but I wouldn't call it a chase.
If there was a chase I don't recall it.
I do plan to give this another watch some time down the road though. Maybe my opinion will change.

Here's my U.S. VHS copy from the early 90s. It's a pan-and-scan job, but that doesn't take much from the enjoyment of this action-packed movie. The scenes where the guy has to speed through the streets of Naples on a dirtbike before checking in to Betti's office by 1:00 to falsify an alibi are awsome. But I agree with the above statements: the Benny Hill-like film speed-ups, for lack of a better comparison, kill the "suspension of belief" momentum of the chase. Taking hairpin turns at simulated breakneck speed without hitting pedestrians (as if it would matter in this film!), when the speedometer CLEARLY indicates a safe, law-abiding pace of 10 km/hour? Come on! Otherwise, this is a great one from Lenzi. Speaking of which, I am the opposite of most Lenzi fans...I became familiarized with his 70s cop movies before the ultra gory stuff of the 80s, which I am not a fan of. I can stomach seeing male actors playing anonymous, seedy underworld figures deservedly getting machine gunned down, tortured and such without batting an eye. When it comes to naked women getting slowly and painfully mutilated by zombies...no thank you, 'Berto.

I used to have one of them (or one 99% similar), I sold it because it was slightly cut, was there two releases looking like this as i can't remember the one I had saying it was unrated on it?

Very nice Tanzi! Looks like it's in great condition too.

I love Violent Naples, one of my favourite Lenzi crime flicks.
