Is the French DVD uncut?  I know it has no English options but a composite could be possible.

the French DVD has the brutal Beating almost completely cut in the Japanese/greek DVD Version.

They sometimes have it for sale in the supermarkets here for about €10 but i haven't seen it in awhile,i'll have a look this week and get back to you.

You can pick it up on eBay for around £5 delivered (€8?).  I have just purchased it, possible fandub material here.

i was told there are some other Cuts in the French DVD though - some Dialogue most likely (it's a bit shorter than the PAL-sourced JP DVD) . had no time to compare them all fully yet.

Well, this is one of my alltime-faves;
1) Alain Delon is in it!
2) It's partially filmed here in Copenhagen!!!
As far as I know, this danish vhs release is uncut... and letterbox (if my memory serves me well)!!! There's a scene where a pimp is beating up a prostitute at the hotel Arzenta is staying (is this the scene you're all referring to?)... First time I watched the movie, I was wondering who played the pimp... I knew he was a danish actor, but I could'nt recollect his name... I've searched everywhere, but never found the answer!!! Until 2 month ago he still was a 'no name', but then I took a screendump from the japanese dvd release and posted it at a danish film forum... Now I know his name; Søren Steen!!! I think I'll try to contact him and get an interview regarding this, in my opinion, super gangster flick!!!!

I just got the japanese disc, it's a very good film. To bad that the japanese version is cut though, I hope it will be avaliable one day uncut with english subs or dub.

the Beating of the Woman is now analysed:

JP DVD: Very short, censored
German VHS: a bit longer
French DVD: very much longer, most likely uncut. now somebody please combine the 2 DVDs

the Greek DVD has the EXACT same Runtime as the Japanese DVD, both are in PAL Runtime. so i would not bother hunting it down... it's cut too

Anybody want a copy of the French DVD so they can make a composite?  I did intend to do it myself but I just do not have the time at the moment.
