Luigi Kuveiller's cinematography is competent but very traditional and without any distinct visual style – it's hard to believe this is the same guy who once shot DEEP RED.

Kuveiller also shot another P.A.C. production around this time: Lamberto Bava's BODY PUZZLE.  It looks slicker than CIRCLE OF FEAR but also does not seem like the work of an Argento cameraman.

I read somewhere that Lado said that the film's original screenplay was diluted with elements from various genres (most notably Asian crime movies and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS type serial killer films) by the producers.

BTW, Carla Cassola's opening credit sort of spoils a climactic twist.

I watched this together with Magnus a while ago, and while it was very cheesy I think it was better than I expected. I also bought the other Lado film released by Madacy - Power & Lovers - but I haven't had the guts to watch it yet...  :-X

I saw the trailer for that and my first thought was: What a dumb title.

Lado's entry into the eighties "erotic thriller" genre is pretty good: LOVE RITUAL.

As with BODY PUZZLE, there are two releases in Italy.  The older Prism release is 1.66:1 (4:3) - http://www.kultvideo.com/scheda.asp?item=9767&type=DVD&key=1 while the newer Flamingo one is apparently 1.78:1 (16:9) - http://www.kultvideo.com/scheda.asp?item=15739&type=DVD&key=1.

As far as Italian early 90s thrillers go, this one isn't too bad but it is disappointing when one considers who the director is and what he was capable of in the past.

BTW, Carla Cassola's opening credit sort of spoils a climactic twist.

Haha! I know! I can't believe they actually did that. Whoever did the credits must have been pretty stupid!  ;D

Shame that both the DVD and soundtrack for some serious $$$ these days.  Curious to see it, but definitely not willing to pay the 20+ USD some sellers are asking on Amazon! :-[
