Title: School Of Fear / Sieben Tage Frist (Alfred Vohrer, 1969)
Post by: Inspector Tanzi on 10 Mar 2015 - 20:34
Murder mystery set around a boarding school in Germany.

I quite enjoyed this, nothing to get excited about but a solid enough watch.

The German DVD has an English soundtrack, seven minutes weren't in the original English version so these scenes are in German with English subtitles.

If you want to see it don't look on imdb first, the main picture on there is of some sort of bootleg release that gives it away on the cover!

Seems there are quite a few interesting looking releases on this filmjuwlen label, it's just not too clear on amazon which ones have English sub or dub options on them.

The same company has also released an English-friendly Blu-ray of the non-Edgar Wallace Krimi THE CARPET OF HORROR:

Though the video doesn't really rise to Blu-ray levels, it was very cool to be able to watch one of the Louis Weinert-Wilton Krimis finally. They've also released the other ones, I believe, but without English options.

Re: SCHOOL OF FEAR, there's a review of the movie and the extra 7 minutes of footage on the disc you mentioned, over here (with a couple mildly NSFW caps):

Cool. I'd be interested to hear about that one once you watch it.

The only other one I've seen from them is THE DEVIL'S AGENT, a kind of spy / Krimi that stars Christopher Lee and Peter van Eyck. Definitely has its moments.

I've got this in my watchlist, one of the few I found like this that says it has English on it, the others I've found with English options look more like adventure films.

I initially found it because I was searching for English-friendly releases that had Marianne Koch in the cast. Ever since seeing her in Margheriti's THE UNNATURALS, I've tried to track down more of her work.

I also watched her in the Krimi MONSTER OF LONDON CITY, but only on the US disc, which is pretty low-quality and seems to actually repeat a short section of a scene between her and Hansjörg Felmy ???
