I too love this one. I thought it was a really well defined world Soavi created and in a way I'm glad it didn't spawn a string of sequels. As it's a classic in my books.

The Medusa Italian dvd has served me well, still looks great on my large screen, and I wasn't sure if the AB R1 would have the original titles/credits changed to the duff North American retitling.

DELLAMORTE DELLAMORE was based on the comics featuring the character Dylan Dog though he's called Francesco Dellamorte in the Soavi flick. Anyway, there's a new adaptation of the comics due out this year – it's called DEAD OF NIGHT, is American, directed by Kevin Munroe (who did the banal CGI version of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES a couple of years ago) and stars Brandon Routh. Make of that what you will.

I'm pretty sure the American October Films prints only replaced the title but left the rest of the credits in Italian (though I think some other releases of the English version had English credits, right?  Similar to the US release of TENEBRAE which replaced the title card but had Italian credits even though the more complete releases of the English version had credits in English).

I think you're correct there, Eric. Apart from the name change, there were no differences I could spot. Iown both the Medusa Film Itlalian disc and the ABUS release too.

Interesting...[/u]

There's very little mention of the Dellamore sequel but Cozzi does mention that Soavi is “going to shoot a movie in the style of The Goonies, starring Nicolas Cage, about some boys' adventures in Pompeii while searching for hidden treasure." Cage will be taking the Anne Ramsey role.”
This sounds amazing to me, especially if Cage does it in drag  :D  :-\

Francesco Dellamorte and Dylan Dog seem to be different people (alltough the strong "similarities" can hardly be denied), i allways though of francesco dellamorte as a alter-ego of dylan dog, well this might be true but i was surprised that in a issue of dylan dog francesco dellamorte appears!..haven seen/read this issue but i thought its fascinating to see the two together...id love to see a sequel to D.D. but only if its again with Rupert Everett (though he´s now a bit older..) with Soavis involvement-i am not sure how optimistic i should be about this, as TALK about a new "horror" movie of Soavi is there since eternity..if there should come out something beyond the talk-sphere it would be of course very welcome.
The so called official "Dylan Dog" movie (where did the character of Groucho dissapear??) will be watched for sheer curiosity as a Dylan Dog Fan, it would highly surprise me if it turns out "very good"..alone that its not an italian production and the absence of Groucho makes me skeptical, but in the same time it also shows (unfortunately) the skelleton of the italian "horror film" industry..when foreigners do a movie about dylan dog (i believe in america the comic is hardly known--unlike italy and other parts of europe--therefore also the original title dead of night...)

A German release? Nice! See it comes with the soundtrack too.

I'm happy to stick with my Medusa Film DVD.
