Some of the audience reactions were priceless!
To be honest even though I like to watch things like this on the big screen I always get annoyed with the experience because of assholes laughing all the way through them with the dubbing, effects etc
I know what you mean, and if an audience is clearly behaving in a derogatory manner toward a classic film, I get upset, too. I don't think that was necessarily the case here. Sure, the audience laughed and talked back at some of the more absurd parts (and let's face it, this film has its share of those), but it wasn't in a mean-spirited way; they were just having fun with it. They were suitably appalled at some of the signature gore scenes. It amazes me how well the drill effect still holds up; if the film were made today, it would be done with CGI and it would look like complete shit. I got the feeling that the audience understood that, and appreciated it.
