Detektive (Rudolf Thome, 1969)
« on: 18 Jan 2008 - 11:09 »

Has anyone seen this German-made crime film? I can find almost no information about it on English-language websites, and so far I haven't found any reference to it in the reference books that I've had the time to consult.

The film has recently had a 'special edition' DVD release in Germany, although there are no English language options. (EDIT: The German reviews that I've read suggest that the film is a genre film with a crossover arthouse appeal, so if Jonny or Paul think this thread would be better placed in the 'Arthouse' forum, please feel free to move it.) Was the film even released outside Germany? I'm tempted to make a 'blind' purchase of it (based on the striking poster art alone, which has been reworked for the DVD sleeve), but if anyone has already seen the film I'd love to hear your comments about it.

EDIT: I've just found the German language trailer on YouTube, for those interested: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TxOnOosvWeE

Cheers,
Paul
