As I've said to Aarron in person, the same twats that have been moaning about the lack of gadgets and legacy ingredients (Q, Moneypenny, etc) are the same people that were moaning that there was too much of it in DIE ANOTHER DAY!

The fact is, people have way too much time on their hands and there's a big proportion of forum users that never have anything positive to say about anything. It's so much easier to be negative and pick faults, and I swear, some of these fools just don't want to be seen to like something in case other people rib them for it.

I thought QUANTUM OF SOLACE was great for all the reasons Aarron mentions. So it's not got much in the way of a story but the narrative was established in the previous film and therefore doesn't need much of one. Bond's motive is revenge and that's all we need to know. Would the sequel to CASINO ROYALE worked if it had had a more narrative-heavy plot? To be honest, I can't see any depth that could have been added to QoS to make it a better film. As it stands, it's a cracking, fast-paced revenge flick and definitely a worthy sequel to CR.

Cinema has changed and if it was made too much like the old Bond's (which incidentally i do think are great apart from DR.NO & DIE ANOTHER DAY) it would seem tame by today's standards and i think Daniel Craig plays this darker vision of Bond superbly.

If BATMAN can get all dark and recieve rave reviews so should Bond.

Well said, I couldn't agree more. Today's cinema is darker and more violent than the cinema of the 60s and the 007 character has been adapted to today's standards. The "charming playboy" Bond is dead. The new Bond is a cold-blooded killer. Gadgets and ladies come second.

Another thing that annoys me is that those that are most vocal in their disliking of the film keep drawing parallels between the new Bond films and the Bourne movies. As much as I have enjoyed the Bourne films, let's be completely honest; Craig's Bond owes more to the early Connery films than it does to the Bourne flicks. There would be no Bourne without Bond.

I really like all the Bond films (even Die Another Day), I thought this was good.. very well acted but I didn't like the action scenes, the way they were edited made it not very exciting for me.

Well, I didn't suggest they were bad... its just something about them that puts me off. probably the leading guy and the whole hype that surrounds them. I'll just wait until they get old  :-\

I really disliked Matt Damon before seeing the first Bourne film, mate. Certainly made me change his opinion of him. If you're ever at a loose end and want to watch something a little more contemporary, give them a go  :-X

I wasn't crazy about Damon either and was pleasantly surprised by the films.  Great energy level and lots of action.  :) >:(

Any news on whether there's an uncut version coming from any other country? I'd read that the UK version was pre-cut before BBFC submission.

I'm sure that the same version will now be issued everywhere as the changes were made whilst  the film was in post production.

That said Marc, CASINO ROYALE was seen during post-production and Sony were advised of the cuts but the longer version was still released in some countries.
