Anyone know of a widescreen release of Claudio Guerin Hill's (BELL FROM HELL) first film? Ornella Muti (dubbed by same actress who dubbed Sylvia Kristel for the English version of EMMANUELLE) plays the teenage daughter of Lucia Bose. When her mother's younger former lover Fernando arrives in town, he and Muti have an affair in the title "House of Pigeons" but she discovers just how shallow and materialistic he is when he goes back to her mother.
Very ordinary next to THE BELL FROM HELL (which was finished by Juan Antonio Bardem when Hill died during shooting), this Italian-Spanish co-production feels more Italian than Spanish (its got a Francesco de Masi score), lacking the rustic feel and dark humor of the other production. Still, it would be nice to see a widescreen version as all fullscreen versions are reportedly horrendously cropped. The Italian DVD is fullscreen. VSOM released a subtitled copy of the Spanish version (though apparently the Italian version isn't any more explicit). The English dub was called THE LOVE AFFAIR and was only released on Greek VHS (also badly cropped).
