Anyone seen the English version of this superb Italian gothic horror set in France?

Is there an English version available anywhere? I have the Italian release.

Perhaps a fan DVD of his I vizi morbosi di una governante should be the next Lovelockandload disc ;)

I've never heard of an English version either.  The Carlo Savina main title song comes from Armando de Ossorio's MALENKA.

Is there an upcoming DVD of VIZI MORBOSI?  I believe the subtitled UK tape is cut.  I have an Italian unsubbed version somewhere but I don't recall the quality.

Johan saw something about it being on a Butchers Film double-bill in the UK alongside SOMETHING CREEPING IN THE DARK.I'd be very surprised if it was a subtitled print.

'Night of the Damned' original BBFC info mentions about it being cut to gain an 'X' cert back in 1972 but doesn't say anything about it being subtitled or dubbed.

These films usually turn up somewhere dubbed but then again there are a couple that were dubbed that have never been seen that way since (ANGEL FOR SATAN, THE UNNATURALS, possibly DONNA DEL LAGO under the title THE POSSESSED).

Movietime has ANGEL FOR SATAN in their catalogue in Italian,English and French, they also have Margheriti's CONTRONATURA in English as well(someone please release this ;)).Surf Film have LA DONNA DEL LAGO also in English so there may be hope though i'm more than happy with Jonny's subbed version.

Summing up a bit of what we know about LA NOTTE DEI DANNATI, the distribution rights are owned by Movietime but they only list an Italian version: http://www.movie-time.it/show_movie.php?id=509

But as mentioned, the film did play theatrically in a censored version in the UK as THE NIGHT OF THE DAMNED, and although it hasn't been confirmed it is very likely that this was an English-dubbed version. However, the English version doesn't appear to have surfaced on VHS anywhere. There's an Italian VHS release, and Midnight Video offers a French version that is longer than the Italian cut but still no English.

There's also a photo novel version published in an issue of Bigfilm. Here are a couple of scans that I posted in the cineromanzo thread earlier:

I don't know if some scenes in the photo novel differ from the actual film.

But here's something interesting. European Trash Cinema are offering this film under the title THE NIGHTS OF SEX: http://eurotrashcinema.com/catalogue-new/Genre-OtherPage77.html
It doesn't specify what language it's in but they usually state "in Italian only" if that's the case. That's still no guarantee, though, as I once ordered a copy of TOUCH ME NOT, which turned out to be dubbed in German even though that wasn't advertised on the site. Still, I'm interested in finding out more about the ETC version.

Yes, I'd love to see Contronatura released in English on DVD. I have a geat looking widescreen tape but it's in Italian.

Back on topic... Great scans Johan.

Wow! That's some of the most exciting news I've heard in ages! I've been really dying to see this rare film! Cool!  ::)

Too bad there isn't an English dub included as I believe one does exist but considering how rare the film is, I am more than satisfied with seeing it subtitled!

Here's the thread about it from DVD-Forum.at which includes pictures of the covers etc though you have to be a member to view.

The rights owner has only the Italian version of La notte dei dannati

It's entirely possible that an English version does exist, but it's unlikely it will ever show up.

Fantastic news!!! Thanks a lot for the heads-up, Stephen!

It's interesting to note that the x-rated DVD cover art is from the Byleth locandina, which was later used for the
Sesso della Strega one!!! The french poster art is like an "unclothed version" variation from the original one! :-*
