Author Topic: Dracula A.D. 1972/Satanic Rites of Dracula - Do they exist?  (Read 4342 times)

About two years ago, GDI announced release of the soundtracks for Dracula A.D. 1972 (by British library-Legend Michael Vickers)
and the Satanic Rites of Dracula (by John Cacavas, the funky Greek).

SoundtrackCollector has an entry for the first mentioned, however, without cover or any detail, and the second is even more obscure.

I have done some research, but the only CD tracks I found are the title tracks on GDI's Hammer Film Music Collection (vol. 2).

Has anybody ever come across one of the full-CD soundtrack releases?

Try emailing the company about it. They're some other single scores for the likes of SCARS OF DRACULA and TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA. I wouldn't doubt it if one or both of these didn't surface sometime in the near future. I'd really love to have scores for VAMPIRE CIRCUS and DR. JEKYLL & SISTER HYDE. I've got TWINS OF EVIL on the way. The AD 1972 is a top score in my book although I don't care for the RITES one that much.

I emailed them several times bit they don't care to respond.

As for Vampire Circus I have to agree.

Do you know the Music from the Hammer Films (Silva Screen)? It contains the "prologue" from Vampire Circus running over 9 minutes. That's more music than is featured on GDI's Hammer Vampire Film Music Collection, where 8 minutes of music are chopped into 5 or 6 pieces.

The Silva Screen CD is highly recommendable, although it's a re-recording.

Yes, I have that one and it's one re-recording I actually like. It's very well done utilizing a much bigger orchestra than what Whitaker had for the film. I also have the complete score for Whitaker's SWORD & THE SORCERER.

Please explain why Paul can explain.  :D

Just listening to the only scrap of music that has ever been released on CD.
Great big band stuff with a touch of funk.

I am sure this soundtrack would sell.

From what I've heard, many Hammer soundtracks will be released by the US label Buysoundtrax - including Dracula A.D. 1972! They just released Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter and more are on their way! We were in negotiation with GDI but since we're only interested in one or two titles they didn't want to work with us.

Well, Dracula A.D. 72 is out now and lying right here in front of me.

There's a lot of music on the disc that's not featured in the movie (at least, I don't remember).

Anyway, the soundtrack is not as good as expected, but it's still worth its money.
