Nice informative review Eric, didn't know Larraz had used Italian casts and crew as the only ones i've seen have been Spanish/UK co-productions(SYMPTOMS,VAMPYRES and SCREAM AND DIE).

Too bad the box set has been put on hold. At least Cliff/BCI mentioned that they hope to release it this year.

The image is fullscreen and looks tape-sourced with the wear and haze of an old master but this seems to be the only way to see the film as I am not aware of any foreign-subtitled or English dubbed tape releases.

I have a very rare old American video release on the Welcome video label. It's English dubbed and looking at those frame grabs, most likely the same master was used for both.

Here's the cast list, taken from my personal database (for which I used the actual onscreen credits):

Quote
<with> Christian Borromeo, Alexandra Bastedo, Emilio Gutierrez Caba, Berta Singerman, José Maria Caffarel, Craig Hill, Massimo Serato, Virginie Blavier, A. Molino Rojo, Annabella Incontrera, Helga Liné <and the special collaboration of> Irene Gutierrez Caba <end credits> Lazaro Escarceller, Alejandro Navarro, Rafael Tormo, David Tomas, Enrique Royo, Maria Luz Lopez, Florencio Calpe, Marcos Riba, Thais.

Nice informative review Eric, didn't know Larraz had used Italian casts and crew as the only ones i've seen have been Spanish/UK co-productions(SYMPTOMS,VAMPYRES and SCREAM AND DIE).

The villa at the end looks Italian but all of the other locations are so nondescript.  WHIRLPOOL and DEVIATION have some Italian post production people (Cipriani on music, Carlo Reali as editor) and try to pass themselves off as Swedish and Danish co-productions (perhaps some money might have come from those countries but I'm still thinking the point of the co-production status was "Sweden = Sex") but I'm sure there purely British.  SYMPTOMS, VAMPYRES, and SCREAM AND DIE are just British.  SCREAM AND DIE lists as its producer Larraz's British wife Diana Daubeny who also was credited with VAMPYRES' script thought it was written by Larraz.

I mentioned on another forum that it looked like producer Brian Smedley Aston (VAMPYRES) was trying to reproduce Larraz's style with director James Kenelm Clarke in EXPOSE (HOUSE ON STRAW HILL) but failed (the dream sequences are Larraz-like but the plot is too literal and less fluid).

I've only seen the two discs from the set.  What else is on there?  If you actually like BLACK CANDLES then you'd be better off with the WELCOME TO THE GRINDHOUSE disc as the version on the BLOOD HARVEST disc titled NAKED DREAMS is a worthless reedit of the film that cuts footage out to loop in sex scenes that then appear later in their entirety.  This version is also cropped and dark (probably VHS):
