Good movie, but the guitar noodling immortalized in the climax of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly loses its effect when it's played a dozen times. By the way, was Bacalov the one who played on that one?  It sounds like Ennio gave him his single track tape and allowed him to replay it. It reminds me that I was watching The Mercenary the other day and the opposite happened in the film: some musical cues were stripped down orchestral pieces sounding like they were lifted off the 16-track to Ennio's soundtrack. Anyhow, I like Lou Castel. He definitely has his moments. "So, do you like Mexico so far?"..."No. Not really."

I don't know if it's true but I read somewhere that some of the Morricone score in some/or one Corbucci films were ones that were originally turned down by Leone.

Haven't seen it for quite a few years and recently picked up the Blue-Underground Blu Ray. It looks really nice, especially the outdoor scenes.
