Looks great Jonny!  ;) It's been a while since I last saw the film, but I remember liking it quite a lot even though I watched the same beat up fullscreen copy as you've got.

love the movie,
especially the scene where they're strolling through this strange park where the most brutal forms of executions are being enacted by plastic dolls. that is SO emblematic of the film and it's approach.
love the score, too!

When I watched it for the first time via the MCP DVD I was very impressed, even more so as I hadn't heard a lot about the film before. I'd rate it as one of my top 20 movies now. Someone from Moscow has an interesting tidbit of trivia to share on the film's political reception over at the imdb board.

As big fans of Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi we are very happy to announce that one of the next titles will be Paolo Cavara's controversial and wonderful L'OCCHIO SELVAGGIO (THE WILD EYE) from 1967, in which he settles the score with his former colleagues Jacopetti and Prosperi. We will release a very informative edition which will make both mondo lovers as well as haters very happy!

I wonder what "informative edition" might refer to exactly, as there have been quite a few italian books recently, covering the subject(s):

Cavara Biography:
- Paolo Cavara. Gli occhi che raccontano il mondo, di Fabrizio Fogliato
Screenplay & more:
- L'occhio selvaggio - di Paolo Cavara, Tonino Guerra, Alberto Moravia, A. Pezzotta
Cavara's son's memoir:
- Ricordo di un padre. Paolo Cavara, regista gentiluomo, di Pietro Cavara
& Gualtieri's excellent biography:
- Gualtiero Jacopetti. Graffi sul mondo30, di Stefano Loparco

Yesterday we shot an in-depth and very informative interview with Pietro Cavara, the son of Paolo Cavara, for L'OCCHIO SELVAGGIO (THE WILD EYE)!
