I was lucky enough to have seen this film last year in Paris on the big screen and in its new HD print!
The film looks good on the big screen, especially the locations, the cinematography...the blind man and his dog major scene is really something to admire on the big screen!!! :'( ???

OPERA was also very impressive on the big screen (i've seen it in its a bit "tired" 35mm print) :D

Do you know if it's a DVD only release, or if there's any plans for a Blu-Ray release?

There's already a Blu-ray release, but there's no english subs or audio on it. However, there is a fan sub version of the Blu-ray doing the rounds.

Looks stunning in HD, if not a little too over contrasty in the new HD transfer.

I've heard the quality of the Italian Blu-ray is shocking. Comes from the same master as the recent-ish DVD that was released in Italy and the colours are supposed to look dreadful.

I know, I have the Italian Blu-Ray. I was asking if there were any plans for a Blu-Ray release by Nouveaux Pictures, because I was hoping for an English audio track (my preferred for the film), and a transfer that fixes the contrast issues that the Italian disc has. Not to mention the new extras.  :D

The Italian disc is not terrible Paul, but the transfer indeed has problems. It has nice detail, and most of the times it looks very good, the problem lies with the high contrast of the transfer, which results in a few scenes where you pretty much lose all the background detail.

Yeah someone thought it was a good idea to ramp the contrast right up... it means scenes where there's real brightness (i.e. lightening etc) are totally overblown.

Not sure who though it was a good idea to do that, but judging on recent form it was probably Argento himself  :-* :-[

The actual transfer itself is pretty sharp and detailed when it's not overblown.

I think it's unlikely they'll be allowed to use anything other than the same transfer for now.

I caught the IP Tech print last week of SUSPIRIA here in Chicago. Rather beat up, and cut as it's a Brit print (cert card at the beginning in fact). But, the colors were still very strong and rich. If that's the way SUSPIRIA is supposed to look, the AB/BU dvds are fairly close (though still very off). This needs a special edition done right sometime soon....

The language on the poster is Spanish but I don't know which Spanish speaking country this poster is from... Alarido means scream or howl.

But it doesn't seem to have been released in Spain under that title. I think it's possibly from some South American country.
