  • Arrivederci...

Congratulations! I am very excited to see it! :D I might even try to organize a screening in Budapest, Hungary.

Do you know if there is a way to buy this in HD and by downloading, not by a DVD? Shipping is expensive, and the Hungarian post is a den of thieves.

Finally ordered my copy today, very much looking forward to acquainting myself with a genre I've just started getting into.

Just got around to watching this doc. Wow. Just great. Really, really fun.

In inspired a mini-moviethon of crime flicks this weekend:

Live Like A Cop, Die Like A Man
Colt .38 Special Squad
Violent Naples
Rome Armed to the Teeth

It was watching "Shoot First, Die Later" that finally tipped the scales. Hoping to start getting into the genre a little more now.

I pre-ordered this several months before it came out and finally got around to viewing it. Highly entertaining and informative. Nice to see the genre get some of the attention normally reserved for horror and westerns! I only wish there were text overlays indicating which film each clip is from. Admittedly, this would probably be quite distracting!

At the risk of sounding like a sadistic pervert, what are the films depicted where the assailants are pissing on their victims? I don't think I've seen these films.

I'm sure we can oblige Scott! If someone doesn't chip in before the weekend I'll list the films...

I'll have to give it another watch to remind myself though, I have no idea off the top of my head.

The third one is from The Big Racket. I wasn't familiar with the other two, but Mike Malloy revealed that they're from (in order) La malavita attacca. La polizia risponde. and Napoli... i 5 della squadra speciale, and as Malloy also points out, there are (sadly) no English-language releases of the latter two.

If you haven't seen The Big Racket, I highly recommend it. Very cheap from Blue Underground, whether it be as a single or in a three pack with Heroin Busters and Street Law, and it's available streaming on Amazon. That having been said, this release is dub only and not high-def (even on the streaming version, which was uploaded years later), and the dub is a real unique, hilarious beast--exerting every bit of effort possible to not cuss (probably done in some misguided attempt to make television sales in English-language territories).

Thanks for the info. I own The Big Racket DVD and have seen it it screened (on 16mm) at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. I guess the pissing scene slipped my mind. I'll have to give it another view soon. I found the other two with English fansubs at the most special place on the net!
