Anyone here collect Press Books? I picked this German Language one up for CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST:

I can't read German but the cover caught my eye (unsurprisingly) and I thought for a quid it was worth picking up just as a curio more than anything else.

I've got a German poster with that design.

I don't really bother much with press books, I think the only ones I've got are for LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, SCHIZO (French press book), COLOR ME BLOOD RED and THE CANDY SNATCHERS.

So what are they excatly? Just something that's sent out prior to a cinema release to whip up attention and give people details about the film?

I don't think it's something I'm going to start collecting but if something interesting pops up I may have a bid or two.

They're sent to cinemas for advertising purposes in newspapers. There's usually several different types and sizes of ad-mats which they can cut out and use get printed as ads as well as synopsis and exploitable press release type stuff which can be used as editorial matter.
