Anyone seen this Italian take on THE BLUE LAGOON? It stars Anna Bergman who was also given the directorial credit by the actual director Joe D'Amato. Apparently, D'Amato wanted to distance himself from the project in fear that people would presume it was an sexploitation film - and no doubt assumed crediting Ingmar Bergman's daughter as the director couldn't hurt the box office!

Not seen that one but I have seen Luigi Ross's Blue Island (1982), another rip-off.

In the end, however, I don't think this helped the film much at all. I recollect reading somewhere that the film did rather poorly at the box office. And in spite of the presence of both Anna Bergman and Richard Harrison, no English language version of this has surfaced. It's a pity, really, as it sounds interesting. I'd love to see this.

So I've read, but I can imagine D'Amato believing otherwise when he was to release the film.

VSOM offer a letterboxed Italian-language print with no subtitles.
