GERMAN GIALLO BOOK
« on: 02 Oct 2008 - 13:49 »

Anyone seen this - not heard anyone mention it? I picked up a copy about 6 months ago. It's very much like the Blood and Black Lace book - in fact it 'utilises' some of the same pics along with some nifty new artwork. Virtually full colour throughout. Even if you have the other book it's worth picking up IMHO. Available on Amazon.de.

Here's a link to the cover:

It's actually a blatant rip-off of Adrian Luther Smith's "Blood and black lace". Except for the excellent photos, there's absolutely nothing that wasn't in the English book before. I bet they just got someone to translate Smith's texts and only slightly alter a few things here and there. If Smith mentions or comments on some particular element, you can bet it's mentioned in the German version, too. I wonder if Smith has already consider :)ed a lawsuit, because its just so darn obvious a case of plagiarism. Which is a shame, because there's so much more to say about Giallo movies. But of course that would recquire one to actually view them all, which I bet they didn't bother.
But this doesn't really come as a surprise, since the illiterate idiots who run the x-rated label also seem to be involved with the mpw company who churns out these rip-offs (has happened before with a book on Jess Franco, I hear).
Just mention the name Bethmann in a German forum, and you'll be faced with several cases of apoplexy.  :) >:(
What the world does need now is an update (with improved binding, pleeeeease) of Smith's excellent book! FAB press, are you listening??

It's actually a blatant rip-off of Adrian Luther Smith's "Blood and black lace".

Th author is listed as "Denny Corso."  Maybe that's how you say Adrian Luther Smith in German.  :-*

Corso is also listed as the author of "CANNIBAL MOVIE CHRONICLE."  I wonder if he actually wrote this too?  :o

I bet it's either the name of the placement student who did the translation for nothing, or just another nom de plume for good old mr. bethmann.
