Been obsessed with the couple GDM discs by Robby Poitevin that I have.  Great atmospheres and dark, uniquely Italian sounding melodies.  anyone else a fan?  I was looking on the Soundtrack Collector website and he's only scored a small handful of films (a few with Nora Orlandi), but the new CD of LITTLE RITA OF THE WEST just came out, so hopefully we get some of the others as well.

great soundtrack, GREAT cover art:

I have the Orlandi/Poitevin soundtrack of La Morte Non Conta I Dollari - it`s very good with that mournful vibe so typical of Orlandi, she`s one of my favorites. I`ve also got that Odia Il Prossimo Tuo disc, I like a couple of the tracks but it`s not one I play often. The cover art is terrific though, pretty good film too.

I just got 3 of the new GDM western soundtrack releases today, but I held off on Rita as I read the cd doesn`t have the vocal tunes from the film. May still get it some day.

ah, that's somewhat disappointing...  I'll still get it as well (ordered just the new Nico Fidenco disc so far).  Odia Il Prossimo Tuo is definitely something you have to be in the mood for, and is really good to put on in the morning.

I pulled Odia Il Prossimo Tuo out after my earlier reply, first time in a few months and it`s better than I recalled. I`ve acquired more of a taste for the unusual spaghetti western scores, so this one may grow on me.

The new Fidenco release of All` Ombra Di Una Colt made a favorable impression on me on first listen. I really like his spaghetti western stuff, with All` Ultimo Sangue and John Il Bastardo being particular favs.

yes, the Fidenco soundtracks I've heard are all really good.  I really like 'Lo voglio morto' and 'John Il bastardo' the most.  GDM's on a roll these days!  I'm really looking forward to 'All'Ombra di una colt', and as mentioned before the Poitevin 'Little Rita' CD...

I just got another awesome Robby Poitevin soundtrack from GDM for KILLER CALIBRO 32.  More in the classic spaghetti-western style than his other, moody orchestrated pieces, but REALLY great, and highly recommended.  The notes say "Strictly limited to 500 copies" so grab it while it's still around...

Got that yesterday myself, Gary. Yep, it`s a superlative effort.

Btw, I also got Cipriani`s LA LUNGA NOTTE DEI DISERTORI and it`s wonderful. I`m not usually one for war film scores, but this is terrific, melodic and memorable. Nora Orlandi is the featured choir voice. This one is also limited to 500 so if you`re interested, don`t wait too long.

I passed on that one because I didn't really like the audio samples I heard, and I really don't like war film soundtracks either...maybe I'll still grab it since it IS Cipriani after all...

You`re either not listening to the right samples or else you`re tone deaf (haha), believe me, and I`m speaking as a total non-war s/t fan, this thing is essential. Track 4 is one of those numbers that make you remember why you fell in love with this stuff.

I bought that Cipriani as soon as it was released  and have no regrets.  Definitely an excellent score.   I actually like war soundtracks - atleast the Battle of Algiers.  There is also a Nicolai war CD (forget the title of the movie!) that has it's moments.  Granted I've only heard the samples of that one but it's on my want list ...
