C'era una volta un gangster (Marco Masi, 1969)

It took me almost 15 years but I have finally found this 1969 Italian crime film starring Richard Harrison (by Marco Masi). To the best of my knowledge it was the last Italian cime I didn't have in any language. What started out as a low budget crime film almost seems to end up as a spaghetti western setting in the ending. The print even has English language credits at the end (with the title Gangsters' Jungle) leading me to believe this may exist in English as well.

Have you got the H&W dvd?

Only film i've seen by Marco Masi is IL SEME DI CAINO,a crime thriller with Isarco Ravaioli who also starred in a few Polselli movies.

Yes and it looks great. What other H&W's do you reccomend? POLIZIA E AL SERVIZIO DELLA CITTADINO looks great too. Roma la altra faccia della violenza looks terrible (incredibly dark).

Recently got SEQUESTRO DI PERSONA (Sardinia:Kidnapped) which pisses all over the US ntsc tape, also an early Riccardo Freda film titled CACCIA ALL'UOMO with Umberto Orsini which wasn't bad.

Hobby & Work are an Italian DVD company that put out DVD's for sale via newsagents in Italy. Quality varies wildly from direct DVD rips from previously released DVD's to VHS or worse transfers.

Jonny, let me correct you about H&W, some may be transfers of old VHS tapes but C'era una volta un gangster, pOLIZIA E AL SERVIZIO DELLA CITTADINO and I'm sure a few others were NEVER released on tape or DVD other than by H&W so overall they have a purpose.

Phil, I never said H&W didn't serve a purpose mate, I was just answering Marc's question about the company in a brief and round about fashion.

Maybe what I should have said was that they often re-release previously released DVD's, sometimes DVD's with transfers ripped from VHS and occasionally transfers from 16mm and 35mm theatrical prints. The quality varies from DVD to DVD.

Jonny, like you I've heard good and bad about H&W. So far I've stuck to just 4 that never were on VHS or DVD and 2 of the 4 were great! Roma la altra faccia della violenza was the bad one (extremely dark) and Roma drogata... was off an old rare tape. I'd love to hear from anyone who's bought any others and their opinions.

There's a new thread about H&W here, be great if we could get more info and feedback about the label and their releases on there.

No, it doesn't as far as I know. I wonder why someone hasn't done translation since 2009. I do Italian transcription and timings for the whole movie although I'm at the level A2 in Italian. Could you proofread these subtitles?
