I'm the same with Hollywood stuff, i'm only just getting round to checking out History of Violence cos i've been told I have to see it. And as for all the rapidly edited, blue-lit, sub Dawsons Creek sarcasm, dog's shite that passes for the thriller these days, no thanks. I'll stick to stuff made by skilled artisans like Dallamano etc.
I saw somewhere that Halloween and Dean Cundey are regarded as the innovators of that blue light look that all these movies seem to have had now for the last 17 years or so. As much as I love Halloween, I damn it for this.
My copy of Venezia is pish poor and subbed too, it also plays at a wonky speed. I can't imagine it any other way, I think i'd be freaked out by a remastered special edition.
