I'm the same with Hollywood stuff, i'm only just getting round to checking out History of Violence cos i've been told I have to see it. And as for all the rapidly edited, blue-lit, sub Dawsons Creek sarcasm, dog's shite that passes for the thriller these days, no thanks. I'll stick to stuff made by skilled artisans like Dallamano etc.

I saw somewhere that Halloween and Dean Cundey are regarded as the innovators of that blue light look that all these movies seem to have had now for the last 17 years or so. As much as I love Halloween, I damn it for this.

My copy of Venezia is pish poor and subbed too, it also plays at a wonky speed. I can't imagine it any other way, I think i'd be freaked out by a remastered special edition. :D

No time to post a list now, but I am a giallo whore!  ::) So proud of it too. And the great thing is that there is so much still to be released and so that part of my collection will grow and grow. It's been a while though since the last one I bought so here's to hoping for some more real quick!

Drac - are you aware that Mario Siciliano's MOLOCCHIO (aka THE EVIL EYE) a giallo from 1974 has just been released in the US on a double bill with Jose Larraz' BLACK CANDLES? It's on a label called BCI and is part of a double bill series called 'Welcome To The Grindhouse'.

The film was previously issued on DVD in Germany (X-Rated Kult Film label) but was dubbed into German with optional English subs, so this new release (which I believe is in English) is definitely a step up.

I was indeed and it is due any day now after being held up in an order waiting for the new SE of Moby Dick ( >:(). However, I didn't realise it was a giallo and bought it only for Jose Larraz's Black Candles! Now I'm looking more forward to a title I didn't buy the disgustingly cheap but very welcome BCI disc for. Cheers Comp!

p.s. I am currently watching Take A Hard Ride's region 1 Anchor Bay disc and if there is no thread for this there is soon going to be!

There isn't a thread.

A shame the film isn't very good.

One last note off topic but I love this film and I want the soundtrack as Goldsmith's score is fantastic!

They give them both an unfavourable review here although, they do find Evil Eye interesting. The quality for these films look less than pleasing aswell.

You can't really grumble at the price though! This two film DVD is $7.12 over at Deep Discount, that's about £3.50!

Dracucarr, I got a review of this in the BLAXPLOITATION thread if you want to add something on it there.

How is ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK? I haven't even opened the giallo's I got yet, but I figure I'll get as many as I can for when the time arises to see some of them.

It's a wonderful film, one of my all time favourites. The Shreik Show DVD is the way to go. It's not a 'formula' Giallo by a long stretch... Definately worth a look if you like Fulci's 'A Lizard in a Woman's Skin'.  Superb Bruno Nicolai score to boot.

Haven't seen LIZARD. Outside of Argento and a scant few others I've not seen many Giallo's. I've concentrated on several genres at the time building each one then moving on to another. Just now getting to these. Actually I was going to buy the first LIZARD release from SHriek Show, but I read the widescreen one was cut and the uncut version was fullscreen. So I didn't see the point in buying this. Now they have this new version which is supposed to be the most complete one available. I have the Fulci book from Fab Press and there's some great photos from this movie in there.
