A great combination of different EuroCult genres, Giuliano Carnimeo's SECRETS OF A CALL GIRL is a really entertaining flick with a great central performance from Edwige Fenech. It's the simple tale of girl meets boy. Girl falls for boy. Boy puts girl on the game, but it manages to combine elements of the crime film and sexploitationer that were rife in Italy during the early 70s, along with looking forward to the sentimental dramas that were prolific at the end of the decade.

I know Stephen is a lover of the flick and there's been talk of this film in other threads. Anyone else a fan?

Only watched it once and I was incredibly fucked up (head lolling in lap fucked up) and can't remember a thing about it. Will have to watch it again.

Maybe I should stick it on for my missus to watch - I'm very slowly introducing her to EuroCult films, but it's a very painfully slow process

A shame the English language version was landed with such a truly terrible title which makes it sound like something altogether different and probably put alot of people off,imo it's one of the most originals films in the genre and really does deserve alot more recognition than it gets.

I bought this and thought it was a sexy comedy, and didn't play it for a long time till I realized it was a drama, after reading this thread.  Not that there's anything wrong with a good Edwige Fenech sexy comedy.

It's an unusual film and the swing from gritty crime movie to something more 'Mills and Boon' isn't as horrendous as you’d imagine. The final scene in the fairground recalls the ending of Raimondo De Balzo's weepy THE LAST SNOWS OF SPRING (1973).

It's being re-released by Mya on February 22 with the title Anna: the Pleasure, the Torment...

What with this and their BLADE OF THE RIPPER release, looks like Mya are out to try and fool the more casual movie fans into thinking this is different to something they may already own. It's really quite naughty. That said, it may be a case of them not selling well under the the other titles and they just want to give them a try with the alternate names. I do suspect the former though...

They are annoying, they certainly aren't a Noshame!
I still buy a lot of their stuff just because they release interesting stuff. Can't stand the soft-pron stuff though, they must be for the collectors out there.
