Out - British 1978 TV series

Anyone looking for a couple of nights entertainment are advised to pick up this excellent crime series. Tom Bell stars as Frank Ross, a villain who has just been released from an eight year jail term. His main concern is tracking down who grassed him and his mates up, while the police want to see him back in the nick.

Expect to see quite a few familiar faces in this who went on to other things.

It can be had on amazon at the bargain price of just £4.28 (reduced from £19.99) so go on, treat yourself.

I have the series "Shoestring" to watch next - sadly this isn't on DVD. Anyone remember this?

I've just ordered one too, Network have put out some cracking stuff.

I've watched the first two episodes so far, I wanted to carry on but i've put it down somewhere and misplaced it ???

Enjoyed it so far though, i've got another 70's Network one to watch aswell, The XYY Man.

Watched the last four episodes last night and this afternoon.

Fantastic piece of television.

I haven't seen this since it's original broadcast but I remember it making a big impression on my teenage mind.  Choice dialogue, tits and arse, a cracking script and some great performances.  I must watch this again, soon.

OUT is an excellent, terse series with a great central performance by Tom Bell. I'm a big fan of Trevor Preston's work, but as much as I love OUT I have to say that it's overshadowed by Preston's later series FOX, which is an absolutely amazing piece of television - one of the few series I find myself revisiting every year or two.

OUT has six episodes; FOX has thirteen. FOX is about a London family, the head of which is played by Peter Vaughan. (Ray Winstone plays Vaughan's youngest son.) It's about the fortunes and misfortunes of a London family, and plays out like an 11 hour long film.
