The Deaths Of Ian Stone (Dario Piana, 2007)
« on: 12 Jul 2010 - 11:57 »

I just spoke to a friend of mine who worked on this film as second assistant director.

Shot by Italian commercials director Dario Piana, with Stan Winston's sfx crew on the Isle of Man - it's had some reasonable reviews yet nobody seems to have heard of it.

Quote
Ian Stone (Mike Vogel) is a working stiff, an American businessman who travels to England for business only to find himself trapped in a bizarre reality: every day he dies a horrific death at the hands of an unknown killer... only to wake up and murdered again and again. Can Ian get to the bottom of the mystery and break the recurring chain of death and resurrection? Written by Anonymous

In England, Ian Stone finds himself trapped in a weird situation: everyday, he meets the same persons in the most different situation, including Medea and Jenny; around 5 PM, the watches stop and Ian is haunted by beings with claws and he has a painful death, waking again in another life. When an old man meets him and tells that he must protect Jenny to resurrect again, Ian begins to unravel a great mystery.

In the states, it was one of the LionsGate 2007 "8 Films to Die For" and those are always a mixed bag so watching one or two bad ones tends to dampen ones enthusiasm about seeing others even though the films themselves are all distinct entities.  I did not know it was directed by Piana who had previously done TOO BEAUTIFUL TO DIE (the sequel to NOTHING UNDERNEATH).

I've seen that tons of times when i'm out and about in shops. I thought it looked a little, well, crap and never even picked it up.

If i find it cheap enough, i'll pick it up.

I've seen The Deaths of Ian Stone. It is a decent little horror flick and actually pretty unique. There is some gore and the effects are good.
