Last night I saw FIFTH CORD again - only the second time I've seen it, the first was around three years ago, when the Japanese disc came out - it's such a good film and I can't think of any other giallo bar one directed by Argento or Bava that's as stylish or as beautifully shot, with much of it filmed in what was then considered to be modernist backdrops, much of which through wide-angled lenses. Franco Nero has the flawed hero nailed and the character is virtually a blueprint for the one he would play in HITCH-HIKE, several years later.
