Nevertheless, "Stagefright" will always have a special place as about the only true "Italian style Slasher" I can think of.
There are some wonderful Italian horror and gialli from the 80s, but not many of them, sadly.

I just watched Deodato's PHANTOM OF DEATH (1988) last night and thought it was excellent, especially, Donnagio's score. Not a big fan of Michael York's either but he was great. Also, you can't go wrong with Fenech and Pleasance.
