Great film but it's early 80's mate :D

Shit! Sorry! I thought we were talking about horror films made in the 80's. I never realised the discussion was about the late 80's.

Stagefright is my favourite late 80's italian horror.

It doesn't have much in the way of competition though, does it  :-\

Errrr......Well, I'd guess that "Opera" would be some fairly heavy competition!  ::)

Nevertheless, "Stagefright" will always have a special place as about the only true "Italian style Slasher" I can think of. ;) ;) ;)

Yeah, OPERA is really good but what I was trying to say is that the decent films were fewer and further between as the eighties progressed, Peter. There are some wonderful Italian horror and gialli from the 80s, but not many of them, sadly.

There are loads of great ones in the 80's but the majority of them are early 80's.

Wasn't the comparison to late 80's Italian horrors?

It was, but I would disagree to a certain degree. Yes, there were some great horrors and gialli from the likes of Fulci and Argento, but even in the early eighties, there was very little else, IMHO.

I just watched Deodato's PHANTOM OF DEATH (1988) last night and thought it was excellent, especially, Donnagio's score.  ::)  Not a big fan of Michael York's either but he was great.  ;)  Also, you can't go wrong with Fenech and Pleasance.  :-X

I agree - definitely one of the better efforts from the late 80s.
